Why is this important?

I believe in the right to own something you purchased. Do what ever you want to that product if the act does no harm to you and others. You should have the right to use, modify, destroy, lend and give away the product that you exchanged money for. In context to Physical Media, the content on the media can store a tangible aspect of a sentimental memory that shapes our personalities and distinguishes individuals from every other brick in the mold.
